The Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM) Opening Reception with a Flag Ceremony is one of the headliner events for the Caribbean community in Georgia during the month of June.  The Opening Ceremony is sponsored by Georgia Caribbean American Heritage Coalition (GCAHC). This event typically attracts about 300 persons and features approximately 35 countries representing the English, French, Spanish and Dutch speaking Caribbean through national dress displays, a taste of Caribbean cuisine and cultural entertainment.

“The Flag salute” Parade of Flags carried by the youth representing each Caribbean nation and the USA has been billed as “a major element” of the event.  Another great feature is the exhibit tables for promotional displays designed to showcase Caribbean culture and products.  Additionally, the  spectacular cultural presentations help to educate the public and highlight historic milestones such as th Independence celebrations and other important anniversaries.  Government officials from Georgia and from  the highlighted nations have participated in the celebrations over the years through speaking engagements and presenting proclamations. For over thirteen years, the City of Atlanta has sponsored this important event in the City Hall Atrium. C (55 Trinity Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303) on at the beginning of June th from 3pm-6pm. This event is free and  open to the public.
